Location. The 1911 bank building resurrected into Hotel ICON stands in downtown Houston, Texas, seven blocks from the Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts and the Wortham Center. The George R. Brown Convention Center is one mile from the property, which is one half mile from the Houston Theater District and three miles from the Houston Museum District. Within one mile of the hotel are Minute Maid Park and the Toyota Center sports arenas. The hotel provides complimentary transportation within three mile of the property.
Hotel Features. The hotel is home two renowned dining venues including BANK restaurant and nightclub entrepreneur Rande Gerber's The Lobby Loft. Antique cellar doors from southern France open into the Wine Vault, an intimate setting offering thousands of choice global vintages. Each on site dining venue can transform into event and banquet rooms, featuring over 5,000 square feet of space with a ballroom, foyer, terrace and executive boardroom hosting a 50 inch plasma screen.
Four private treatment suites, a boutique and relaxation areas comprise the hotel's Balance Day Spa. Spa dining is ordered through BANK restaurant. The 24 hour fitness center surrounds cardiovascular and strength training equipment with vintage brick walls and underlying 100 year old wide plank flooring.
Guestrooms. The upscale cosmopolitan hotel was fully renovated in 2004 to reveal 135 guestrooms and 9 penthouse rooms reminiscent of chic mansion suites. Velvet chairs with ottomans and desks sit across from bedding with pillowtop mattresses and down duvets. Rooms offer complimentary high speed Internet access and flat screen televisions with cable access and video game consoles. Bathrooms include rainfall showerheads, marble vanities and Molton Brown toiletries.
Expert Tip. The hotel's guest transportation comes in the form of London style taxi or pedicab service. The METRORail Line's Preston location, stops in the Museum District and Reliant Park is across from Hotel ICON.
